January? Veganuary? The Guide To The Month-Long Celebration

posted in: Lifestyle 0

January is all about getting more plants on your plate. The Veganuary celebration runs from January 1st through January 31st and the commitment is easy. You have a whole month to go from plant-curious to plant-focused. That means a whole January without animal products. No meat, no cheese, seafood, nada!

There’s a lot of pressure put on the month of January. There’s the attempt to avoid alcohol. That is followed by the plan to avoid sweets. Don’t forget the plan to save money. It’s a crazy time. But deciding to eat more fruits, grains and vegetables is not crazy. Why? Because you gotta eat so January is the perfect time to explore plant-based options.

What Can I Eat in January?

Sign up and pledge to eat vegan meals all day or try to have at least one vegan option daily. It’s not just about what’s on your plate. The Veganuary team wants you to also consider how harmful the egg, dairy, meat and seafood industry is to the animals and to the planet. January is not just the start of a new year, it can also be the start of a new mindset.

Veganuary in 7 Easy Steps

Choose one full day of vegan meals or one vegan option a day. Don’t try to overhaul your whole life all at once. It takes 21 days to create a habit.

Organize your fridge, cabinets and pantry. It’s hard to plan meals and create new vibes for January if you can’t find anything. Use clear food storage containers and zip lock bags so that you know what’s what.

Plan for snacking. It’s not all about being a goody two shoes. Do people even say that any more? Lol. Don’t forget to choose plant-based snacks like roasted chickpeas or homemade potato chips.

Use Apps to help you navigate. Technology can play a huge role in your January meal plans. Download apps like Eat Okra and Blapp to find vegan meals near you.

Reach for a Cookbook. No need to reinvent the wheel. If you can read you can cook!

Be Kind to Yourself. None of it works if you are not kind to you. Let January also be a time to remind to give yourself grace. Take it one day at a time.
