Matcha protein shakes were all the rage last year and the trend is continuing in 2025. Matcha is the star and offers a ton of cell nourishing antioxidants. This high quality green tea does contain caffeine but not as much as coffee. I love that it gives a more chill energy boost.
The matcha protein shake provides the opportunity to grab some good old plant-based protein. This is a great option when you don’t want to consume meat or even dairy. This shake packs a one-two punch and is perfect in between meals, during the 3pm slump or after a great workout. So let’s get into the benefits of a matcha protein shake.

The Matcha Advantage: More Than Just The Trendy Tea
Matcha isn’t just another tea. This vibrant green tea has been revered in Japan for centuries. Unlike regular green tea, matcha is made from the whole tea leaf. That’s why people are excited about the matcha protein shake. Let’s continue to explore the health benefits of matcha.
Antioxidants are at the core of matcha’s plant-based power. These compounds help protect our bodies from oxidative stress which has been linked to chronic diseases. Catechin EGCG is a key ingredient in matcha. It has been celebrated for its ability to fight cancer. A matcha protein shake can help protect our cells against damage. Take a sip and fight the good fight!
Had a long and stressful day? Thanks to the L-Theanine in your matcha protein shake, you can relax without feeling drowsy. It combines with the caffeine to create a calm vibe without the jitters. Matcha can also help wake your metabolism. It contains catechins that help to burn calories and can be a real ally in your fitness journey.

Matcha Protein Is A Perfect Pairing
Some of us need more protein than others. This matcha protein shake recipe can help get you where you need to be. Plant proteins help to support our overall health. They are rich in essential amino acids and they help with muscle repair after that work out that you put in. Plant-based proteins are usually easier to digest. They also meet many dietary needs, from vegan to gluten-free. Too much protein can be harmful, just like too much of anything good. Talk to your doctor before you start making a lot of protein shakes.

Be sure that the matcha powder you choose contains nothing but 100% ceremonial grade matcha.
Customize Your Shake
I used to think that leaning into fruits, grains and vegetables would leave me bored. That’s why I encourage you to customize your shake to keep things exciting in your kitchen. Have fun with this recipe and let me know how it goes!
