Sakara Meals Make Plant-Based Eating Easy As 123

posted in: Lifestyle 0

Right now, my home is in full renovation mode—which means no stove, no microwave, and a whole lot of dust. Thanks to my fridge and some planning, I’m feeling nourished, energized, and plant-based good! I did this without cooking. What saved me this month? Sakara salads.

Sakara offers fully-prepared, organic, plant-based meals delivered straight to your door. Founded by two childhood friends, I discovered Sakara a few years ago. I was looking for ideas for surviving lunchtime at work. Fast forward to this crazy summer, the meals have been more than just convenient, they have been my go to every day.

What I Appreciate About Sakara

What I appreciate most is that Sakara makes it easy to get more fruits, grains, and veggies on your plate. Each meal is nutrient-dense and beautifully curated, with full servings of leafy greens, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. Without access to my kitchen, I look forward to lunch. It’s real food that leaves me feeling satisfied and fueled. We’ve all had those sad and boring salads that leave you hungry an hour later!

The salad dressings are the absolute stars. I am waiting for them to hit the grocery stores. They take every Sakara salad to the next level. I love the variety of flavors from pomegranate to creamy avocado to carrot ginger. The dressings taste fresh and I’d be lying if I didn’t share that I’m a little sad when it’s all gone. The Sakara salads look beautiful and are a great reminder of how colorful our plate should be.

Convenient But Not Cheap

Each Sakara order also comes with extras like detox teas and daily probiotic supplements. These are thoughtful touches that make me feel like I’m taking care of all of me. You know those days when you wake up, sip tea, do a little yoga and then head out to the office? Yeah, those are my Sakara days.

The Sakara meals are convenient but not cheap. Also, unlike other companies, their meals do not include tofu, seafood, pork, beef, chicken or dairy. They are whole foods plant-based for real. To my delight, I discovered that some Sakara salads contained Pumfu and avocado. Pumfu is a protein similar to tofu made from pumpkin. I wrote all about it HERE.

Now let’s talk about the price. Five lunches with teas and probiotics comes to $142. With NYC taxes, the grand total is $154.60. I don’t know how much the teas and probiotics cost but I’m guessing that these salads cost about $20-25 each. I know. Yikes! But I would say that the cost reflects the quality, convenience, and peace of mind. Lunchtime is hard for me. I work in a fast food zone. Not scrambling to figure out what to eat around the office for the next few weeks is a relief.

The Final Word About Sakara

With that said, if you’re trying to find fresh, new ways to get more plants your plate, or if you are in a no kitchen situation like me, Sakara salads might be worth looking into. You can order meals for a day or 5 days. You can order just breakfast, just lunch or just dinner. I have found the meals to be plant-powered and tasty.

We have 6 to 8 weeks left for our home renovation. I will try some other ready-made meals and share my thoughts here. Do you have a favorite ready to go meal company? Find me @blackgirlseat on IG and let me know all about it.
