Vegan Thanksgiving Meals To Go Make The Holiday Easy!

posted in: Lifestyle 0

Vegan Thanksgiving meals don’t have to be made at home. I appreciate that there is someone out there willing to help a sister out! While not everything on my table will be vegan friendly, a large part of it will be. I’m all about making sure that we get more fruits, grains and vegetables on our plate. And that includes ordering some tasty goodness made by someone else.

Why Order Vegan Thanksgiving Meals?

The truth is, we could all use a little help sometimes. I read that most hosts need anywhere from 7-10 hours to properly prepare a Thanksgiving feast. I guess I’m not most hosts. Their number doesn’t include shopping for the seasonings I barely use like anise and cloves. It also doesn’t include cleaning the house and adding the extras like finally wiping down those baseboards!

Here are my top three reasons for considering ordering vegan Thanksgiving meals to go:

  • You are not vegan so you appreciate that you can order and be confident that you are meeting the dietary needs of your guests.
  • You are busy so even if you make a few sides, it’s nice to order a few more to help round out the table.
  • You are not creative so you appreciate new and interesting ways to present the old classics with new flavors.

If you missed last year’s post about vegan meal delivery for this holiday, you can find it HERE. Check out what I found this year!

The 4th Annual Thanksgiving Community Feast by ChillisOnWheels

Not exactly an opportunity to order vegan thanksgiving meals but I had to share. Founded by Michelle Carrera of Chilis on Wheels, this event takes place in Tompkins Square Park in NYC. It has provided over 4,000 meals in the last four years. The menu for the day includes a full spread of vegan food and is completely served by program volunteers. And guess what? Everyone eats together. That’s what community is about!

Each year over one thousand meals are experienced by New Yorkers in need. The day also includes a coat and clothing drive and they accept cruelty-free personal care packages. Shout out to Brown Bike Girl for partnering to deliver meals to Harlem and the South Bronx. If you are looking for a way to give back to the community, visit the site to learn more and get involved.

If you’re not sure what to order, here are some popular vegan side recipes. You can find them right here on the Black Girls Eat website.
